The DeminerHogir Hirori

Bringing only a pair of pliers and a knife, Kurdish Colonel Fakhir goes on a military mission to Mosul. The Deminer is a real documentary thriller: from the first to the last scene you will be on the edge of your seat. The ringtone of a mobile phone will never sound the same again.

After the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime, Fakhir, a father of 8, decides to fight the landmines that kill so many Iraqi civilians. Fakhir dismantles nearly 1000 landmines during this period. When the American troops leave in 2011, the violence in the region becomes more prevalent. Fakhir's passion for home videos inspires him to record everything. This allows us to witness recent Iraqi history, including the rise of IS. 'Crazy Fakhir' - as he is called by the Americans - does not say very much; it is mainly the footage that reveals his personality, shows his family and his extreme job. Risking his own life, he only has one goal: to save the lives of innocent civilians. This ensures that the story is driven to multiple climaxes that do not leave a single viewer unmoved.
