A River Changes CourseKalyanee Mam

For her debut film Kalyanee Mam, the cinematographer of the prizewinning documentary "The Inside Job", returned to her native Cambodia, where the countryside suffers the destructive consequences of globalisation and urbanification. Shot over a two-year period the film registers how the local population has to stand by and watch how the jungle is destroyed, rivers emptied and farmland turned into something increasingly rare and expensive. A touching story about a country forced to transform into an industrial economy, told with images more so than words.
