CRISPR: Holy grail or Pandora’s box?

A fascinating but controversial new possibility in science: very specific pieces of DNA can be processed, allowing genes in living cells to be permanently modified. This could allow for many genetic diseases to be treated. But where is the limit? By intervening in DNA we are playing with the fundamental building blocks of human life.

In conversation with prof. dr. Hilde Van Esch (Departement Human Heredity, KU Leuven), Kristien Hens (bio-ethic), prof. dr. Em. Wannes Keulemans (Lab for Fruit Breeding and Biotechnology, KU Leuven). Moderator: Dieter Decleene (EOS).
