David Bowie: The First Five YearsFrancis Whately

David Bowie left behind an impressive musical heritage as one of the most innovative artists of the 20th century. In the third part of this documentary trilogy about the legendary pop legend, we look back at his earliest years until the dawn of the Ziggy Stardust period. The ultimate chance to (re) discover the pre-fame years of this exceptional artist.

The 90-minute documentary completes the trilogy by Francis Whately, after the previous films Five Years and The Last Five Years. Whately got access to rare archives and managed to speak with many of Bowie's friends and employees. They all talk openly about the man behind the artist, the Bowie they knew, loved and admired. In addition to the exclusive interviews, The First Five Years features unheard-of audio recordings and exceptional archive material - such as a BBC audition from 1965.
