Grande HotelLotte Stoops
In the Fifties, the stately Grande Hotel was constructed by the Beira coast in Mozambique. A five star hotel of 12.000 square metres with 110 rooms, it is a classic example of grotesque luxury. The project was doomed to fail from the start, and a few decades later the hotel has been literally stripped of all value. Over 3500 people call it home, it has become a town within a town. A fascinating and visually impressive story about colonial hubris, nostalgia and the struggle for life.
