A day out on the sea from hell would be the most accurate description of this film. Hell in this case is a fishing boat, manned by tough sailors, where blood flows and fish heads turn the deck slippery. "Leviathan", which has been called a horror documentary, is an almost physical assault on your senses. The water roars, the ropes creak, metal pulleys clang and the boat is never still. The images are claustrophobic, dark and sinister, poetic and at times almost abstract. This unique subjective, poetic and at the same time harsh and brutal documentary is something you have never seen before.
