ManuEmmanuelle Bonmariage
Manu Bonmariage has often been featured at DOCVILLE. The experienced documentary filmmaker started out as the spiritual father of the legendary news series Strip-Tease. Manu, who is going through the first stages of Alzheimer's, is now the subject of a warm and humorous portrait made by his daughter Emmanuelle.
Manu Bonmariage made over 80 documentaries making him a key figure in the Belgian documentary world. He lost an eye when he was 6 years old, but that did not stop him from picking up a camera and building up an impressive repertoire. He always had a camera across his shoulder and looked at the world through the lens. The honest way in which he portrayed people and their stories full of compassion and often with a healthy dose of humor was unique. Today he is in his 70s and suffers from Alzheimer's. While his memory plays tricks on him, his daughter Emmanuelle goes back in time and makes a warm, humorous, and extremely honest portrait of the man who reminds us of the people he so fondly portrayed.
