Noma, my Perfect StormPierre Deschamps

A candid look behind the scenes of the world famous restaurant Noma and into the mind of its brilliant culinary innovator René Redzepi.

For years, restaurant Noma ruled the culinary world. The Danish restaurant was elected Best Restaurant in the World four times. The man behind this success is chef René Redzepi. As the son of an immigrant, he often felt like an outsider. Ironically, he gained worldwide acclaim as the beacon of "pure Nordic cuisine”. Noma is about more than just delicious food. It's all about the intense quest to find unique local flavors and ingredients and use them in a perfect recipe. Redzepi wants his guests to taste where they are and which season it is, based on their plate.

The film follows Redzepi during a tumultuous period in which it becomes clear that there is no margin of error at the top of the culinary world and that a fabulous reputation can be a heavy burden. It is refreshing to see that the person behind the almost divine reputation ascribed to Redzepi by foodies all over the world is a regular guy, who is mainly driven by the passion to create something new. And the passion is obvious, even on the big screen: it is a pleasure to see a team working in the kitchen as one cohesive organism. The delightful images of the various dishes are guaranteed to make your mouth water.
