Eight youngsters taking professional training (7 boys and 1 girl) do not feel like traditional finals. They want something else. Together they decide to renovate an uninhabited house and turn it into a community centre. The film tries to tackle all prejudices that exist regarding professional trainings. The prejudice that they are less educated lives on, even in the youngsters’ self-image, and some of them behave like it. Recht in de Ogen (Straight in the Eyes) tries to prove that there can also be professional training with quality and that these pupils are no less than others. The pupils succeed in being the best example and in convincing you easily with their humour and their wisdom.
