Tea with the DamesRoger Michell
Judi Dench, Eileen Atkins, Joan Plowright and Maggie Smith. If you do not know them by name you will certainly know their faces. These four actresses have all been knighted 'Dame' for their important contribution to the arts. The four iconic women meet up for an animated tea party full of memories and juicy anecdotes.
Four extraordinary actresses regularly meet for a cup of tea: to catch up, to recall memories and to share some gossip. Exceptionally they allow a camera crew in. Under the watchful eye of renowned director Roger Michel (Notting Hill), their animated conversations are filmed, supplemented with a wealth of archival material. The four veterans talk about their lives as actresses, with precious anecdotes and interesting stories. After all, the ladies were in the midst of the cultural revolutions that took place in the creative world from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Their personal history is also the history of the cultural life of the last decades, which they literally give a face to. A face with a lot of wrinkles, but all the more character.
