The Island PresidentJon Shenk

Every president has his problems. But Mohamed Nasheed, the first democratically elected president of the Maldives after thirty years of dictatorship, is actually fighting for the continued existence of his country. As the sea level rises the 1200 islands that make up the Maldives are slowly sinking. Nasheed intends to address the issue at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. His quest takes on David and Goliath proportions straight out of a Hollywood movie. At the same time, it is an astonishing portrait of what really goes on behind the scenes of international environmental conferences.
