Irish film critic and documentary film maker Mark Cousins is stuck in Mexico City for three days with nothing to do. He remembers that his cinema hero, Sergei Eisenstein, spent some time in the city and walks the streets looking for references to the great Russian. What starts out as an ode to Eisenstein and the medium of cinema turns into a bigger spiritual journey. ‘What is this Film Called Love?’ is a passionate, very personal and poetic film about the quest for happiness, the origin of extasy and the love for film.
