Every year, Pascal (53) and Carole (28) gather their three donkeys, four dogs and eight hundred sheep to embark on a four-month winter hike through the mountains of Switzerland and France. During this "transhumance" they fight their way through the barren landscape, trying to find nutritious meadows for the sheep. Their search is complicated by the urbanification. Each year more grass has been taken over by houses, train tracks and industrial zones. "Winter nomads" is a melancholy roadmovie, with beautiful images of a stunning landscape that is slowly shrinking.
