In 1986, a Dutch film crew travels to New York to make a documentary about hip-hop. The presenter - a young Marcel Vanthilt - gets young, up-and-coming rappers like LL COOL J, Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash in front of the camera. 35 years later, A Hiphop Minute returns to 1986 New York and looks back with the same, now iconic, rap artists.

The 1986 documentary Big Fun in the Big Town became a cult classic and inspired a lot of Nederhoppers, including young Belgian Pascal Garnier. Garnier, now a rapper, DJ and filmmaker himself, is making a sequel to this legendary documentary thirty-five years later. In A Hiphop Minute, he combines original footage with new interviews and offers a raw, personal insight into the lives of hip-hop legends. The protagonists have grown older and wiser, but their eyes still twinkle when they talk about their Golden Age.
