To mine or not to Mine?

Is Europe avoiding its responsibility by counting on lithium from other parts of the world? Lithium batteries are needed for all kinds of technology - from electric cars to smartphones. However, few countries offer their backyard for mining.

In Serbia there are massive protests against the controversial mining project in the Jadar Valley, by an Australian-British company. Peter Tom Jones, director of the KU Leuven Institute for Sustainable Metals and Minerals, also received criticism from Serbian media and activists. The subject is controversial, to say the least.
