Using previously unpublished interviews, family films and propaganda films, The Propagandist tells the story of the life, the rise and the fall of Dutch filmmaker Jan Teunissen. Teunissen came from a wealthy background and was able to pursue his passion for filmmaking at an early age. During World War II, he became the most powerful man in the Dutch film industry and played an important part in the circulation of Nazi propaganda. After the war, he was punished, yet continued to brag about his carreer and his ties to the high ranks of the Nazi regime. What drove him to become part of this horrible regime?
