A new look at the colonial past?
The renovation of the Africa Museum in Tervuren is the ideal occasion for director Matthias De Groof to study our view on the Belgian colonial past. Does the facelift of the museum imply that this past must be (re) interpreted? Did the museum demolish not only old walls but also the old colonial vision in its new design? And have they succeeded in making the voice of the African diaspora heard? VRT journalist and Congo expert Peter Verlinden offers his expertise.
