BeestJoost Laperre, Jillis Schriel

Walter Arfeuille has everything of a tragic hero. All his life he wants to be the strongest and the toughest. He will do anything to beat his great rival, muscle-man John Massis, known in Flanders as "the strongest man". His obsession drives him to extremes: it is never big, heavy or sensational enough. It earns him the nickname "the beast," but also nearly brings him down. The fallen hero slowly crawls back upright, with a twinkle in his eye revealing his new plans. An intimate portrait of a strong character.

Belgian selection

DOCVILLE presents the ten best Belgian documentaries of the past year. Films that capture special places in our country, such as a small pigsty or an operating room where hypnosis is used, but also films that look beyond national borders and zoom in on, for example, Iceland, Congo, Ireland or Turkey. Documentaries made by familiar faces or by young newcomers. The strongest film will be announced the winner of the Jury Prize for Best Belgian Documentary.

Most films are followed by an outro from the director.
