Eternal YouHans Block, Moritz Riesewieck

Imagine a world where your great-grandchildren can speak to a digital version of yourself 100 years from now. They can hear your voice, listen to your memories and see your face. An unrealistic, far-fetched idea? Certainly not according to an American start-up that views immortality as a new business opportunity.

Do you believe in eternal life? In Eternal You, documentary filmmakers Hans Block and Moritz Riesewieck explore something awfully close to the very concept of immortality. Using artificial intelligence, start-ups are creating virtual avatars of deceased people to keep their memory alive. Thanks to this simulation, family members can interact with them again. Is this a fairytale too good to be true? A fantastic new development bringing relief from loss? Or is this a purely commercial initiative, preying on vulnerable mourning people? This documentary is a balanced consideration of the Eternal You concept and explores views of entrepreneurs, clients and experts on the matter, together with ethical questions that are being brought up because of this new and capricious technology.
