Biniam Girmay, a 17-year-old promising cyclist from the African country Eritrea, dreams of riding the Tour de France. More than 10,000 cyclists have competed since 1903, but only six of them were black. Will Biniam become the seventh black cyclist in the tour de France?
Filmmaker Lieven Corthouts already featured at DOCVILLE in 2008 with his film My Future. This was later followed by award-winning documentaries such as Little Heaven and The Invisible City: Kakuma. In his latest work, Corthouts shadows renowned cyclist Biniam Grimay from the very beginning of his career. A unique portrait, filmed over six years, of a top tier athlete who steadily climbs the international rankings.
