Scottish baron Ronald Reisinger is a unique character. Full of stories, very present, eccentric, almost a caricature. He is addicted to luxury cruises and appears to have the time of his life there. But when prize-winning documentary maker Sophie Dros visits him in his cabin, she meets an individual desperately seeking recognition and connection. Material prosperity, in his case, has led to immense loneliness. The only comfort he has is occasionally meeting like-minded people on his cruises. Whether his incredible stories have any truth to them, is not Dros’s concern. With visual flair and through inventive editing, she manages to create an eye-catching picture that perfectly reflects the ambiguity of her protagonist. The flip side of the medal. And perhaps the most special of all: it turns out there is a lot to recognize in a man who seems so different.
